Land can be taken if found encroached Land was included in survey by mistake
VALLALA (NALGONDA DT): It was a different kind of ‘bhoo poratam’ of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders at this tiny village in Sali Gowraram mandal on a Friday. In a swift response to the Congress leaders’ allegation that the CPI (M) District Secretary Nandhyala Narasimha Reddy’s brothers had been enjoying the assigned land here, the General Secretary of the Vyavasaaya Kaarmika Sangham, B.Venkat and party MLC Cherupalli Sitaramulu visited the village along with Mr. Reddy. When Narayana Reddy, brother of Narasimha Reddy, the party district unit secretary, made it clear that he had nothing to do with the land, the CPI (M) activists pitched the red flags in one acre and on two guntas of assigned land amid chanting slogans against Narayana Reddy. Enquiry
“If the officials fail to distribute the land among poor, we’ll take up the task soon,” Mr.Venkat said. He also dared the Government to order an enquiry into the properties of the party leaders. “You can take back the land, if it was found to be encroached by our leaders,” he said. Mr. Venkat and Mr. Sitaramulu sought to know from the locals as to how the land was included in the patta land (survey no. 228) of Mr. Narasimha Reddy’s brother. A revenue official, who was present at the site, clarified that the small bit was included in the survey number by mistake long ago. Letter to tahsildar
“We are not in possession of this land and the officials are free to take it over to distribute amongst the poor,” the CPI (M) secretary’s brother told reporters. He had already submitted a letter to the tahsildar stating that the land in question was nowhere near his patta land. Mr. Narasimha Reddy, who was jailed twice for spearheading the latest round of ‘bhoo poratam’, said that the Congress leaders were making false allegations against his family members to dilute the movement launched by his party. 100 acres occupied
Led by the CPI (M) leaders, a group of poor persons later occupied 100 acres of land at Dandempally in Nalgonda mandal. While 54-acres of land was the property of a private person, the remaining patch belonged to a temple. “The district administration had given away 54 acres to a person by flouting all the norms. This land should be taken back and must be distributed among the poor,” Mr.Narasimha Reddy demanded.
