New programme benefits tribal students

BHADRACHALAM: The Minister for Tribal Welfare, D. S. Redya Naik on Frida y mooted the idea of launching a new academic enrichment programme to help tribal students improve their performance in studies. He reviewed the tribal welfare activities sponsored by the ITDA in the sub plan area of the district. Later addressing a news conference, he said the tribal students, despite all support from the Government could not fare well in the SSC examination this year.

He wanted the headmasters, teachers and wardens to shoulder the responsibility of improving the success rate in the public examinations.

There were over 35,000 students on the rolls in the 70 ashram schools, 39 tribal welfare hostels and eight residential schools.

Special coaching

Special coaching would be arranged for them after the half year examination.

He called for total involvement of the teaching staff in the programme to help achieve 90 per cent results this year. The department would fix the responsibility on the teachers and wardens falling short in their performance.

Vanama Venkateswar Rao, Minister for Vaidya Vidhana Parishad, Puvvada Nageswar Rao, Payam Venkateswarlu, MLC, Sunnam Rajaiah and Gummadi Narsaiah, and Sashibushan Kumar, Collector, also took part.
