4 killed in Assam blasts

Guwahati: Four persons were killed and at least 40 others injured in four blasts – three in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district and one in central Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Saturday.

Three persons were killed in two successive blasts at a fish market and a textile market in Tinsukia town, while another blast occurred at Doomdooma town almost simultaneously, all suspected to be the handiwork of the ULFA. In the Doomdooma blast in front of a cinema hall, 12 persons were injured. At Diphu, a woman was killed and seven persons were injured when suspected militants of the Karbi Longri National Liberation Front lobbed a grenade.
