Chennai: The Federation Cup boxing championship for men and women, hosted by SRM University, Kattankulathur, will take place from July 9 to 13.

“Nearly 300 boxers will participate in the championship, which will have women taking part for the first time. SRM will take care of the board and lodging for the boxers and the officials,” said P. Sathyanarayanan, Vice-Chancellor, SRM University, at a press conference.

Two world women’s champions, K.C. Lekha and Saritha Devi, will take part in the championship, which will be held under the aegis of the Tamil Nadu State Amateur Boxing Association. The men’s section will see Asian-level pugilists like Jai Bhagwan, Lakhra Bijendar, Ammadeep Singh and Jitender in the fray.
