It’s celebration time for toppers

BERHAMPUR: Achievers among school students in Ganjam education circle were felicitated at a function organised in the city by the education department on Saturday.

The Ganjam educational circle includes Ganjam and Gajapati districts. The felicitated students included Prasad Mohanty, a student class IX of Harobino Vidya Bhavan of the city. Although wrestling is not a popular sport in this region yet he won a bronze medal in 64-kilogram category in the national inter-school games.

Leading the way

According to the physical education teachers he can be a path shower for school students who are neglecting basic sports like athletics due to blind attraction towards cricket. The other four students who were honoured were students from Ganjam and Gajapati districts who were in the top ten list in the secondary school board examination conducted by Orissa council of secondary education this year. They were F.Nasim Ali Khan of Medical campus high school of the city who secured sixth rank, Swaroop Ranjan Mishra of Saraswati Vidyamandir at Dihapadhalo village of Ganjam district, who got seventh rank, Gangadhar Hota of S.S.V.Mandir at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district for getting tenth rank and Sushri Smarika of Nilakanthanagar Saraswati Saraswati Vidyamandir who got tenth rank.

Circle Inspector of Schools, Balmiki Pradhan and a large number of teachers and parents were present at the ceremony.
