‘Declare Kozhikode disaster-affected’

KOZHIKODE: The District Development Committee has appealed to the State Government to declare Kozhikode district ‘disaster affected.’

A meeting of the committee here on Saturday, while evaluating the widespread damage suffered to agriculture crops, houses and roads, said the loss suffered due to heavy rain and wind was found to be Rs.7.13 crore. Twenty people died in the rain last week.

District Collector A. Jayathilak presided. P. Sathi Devi, MP, and MLAs, among others, were present. — Staff Reporter
