Staff Correspondent
Bidar: The Bidar Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) has urged the Government to extend the loan and interest waiver schemes till March 2008. Memorandum
The present scheme of waiving loans up to Rs. 25,000 and interest ended on May 31. To benefit from the scheme, the farmers have to pay back some amount of the principal within that date. However, most of the sugarcane farmers have not been able to repay the principal as the sugar factories that had bought their produce, have not paid them till now, BCCI president B.G. Shetkar has said in a memorandum to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. Secondly, farmers who have grown green gram, black gram and other crops this kharif season have not yet harvested their produce. If the scheme is extended till March 2008, they can also avail the benefits of the scheme, the memorandum adds.
