‘Government has failed to give relief’

BIJAPUR: Shivanand Patil, Congress MLA representing Basavanabagewadi segment, has charged that the Government had failed to provide relief to those who suffered owing to floods in the Don, a tributary of the Krishna flowing in Bijapur and Gulburga districts.

In a statement here on Friday he said that even after a week after floods, power supply in many villages in Bijapur and Basavanabagewadi taluks remained disrupted.

Moreover, the flood victims had not received enough foodgrains and clothes. He said the District Central Cooperative Bank, which was headed by him, had decided to contribute to the district flood relief fund, and sought approval from the Government.
