Clerk shot dead

GORAKHPUR: Unidentified men on Saturday shot dead a railway accounts clerk in the district.

Somnath Pandey (50), a clerk in the accounts office of the Railway Protection Force, was coming out of his office in Mohaddipur area of the district when he exchanged arguments with the attackers, who later shot him dead on the spot, police said.

The assailants are absconding after the incident, they said, adding money-lending racket is suspected to be behind the incident.
