Man found dead; empty sachets found near body

MYSORE: A man was found dead on the footpath near Ballal Circle on Saturday. It is suspected that he had an overdose of arrack.

He has been identified as Soma, a painter. Reports said over 10 empty sachets of arrack were found near his body. It is suspected that he might have purchased the sachets from some shop in the vicinity that sold the brew at a reduced price.

Sources in the Excise Department told The Hindu that the police had registered a case of unnatural death. It is not known whether it was due to excess consumption of arrack. The post-mortem was conducted and the report is awaited on Sunday.
