Thiruvananthapuram: Introduction of Kochueveli-Lokmanya Tilak ‘Garib Rath’ biweekly express, extension of Thiruvananthapuram-Kottayam passenger to Nagercoil and increasing the frequency of the Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Maveli Express from tri-weekly to daily are the highlights of the new timetable that will come into effect from July 1. Along with this, the Railways have increased the frequency of the Kochuveli-Bangalore-Kochuveli Express from weekly to tri-weekly, diverted the 2695/2696 Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Express via Coimbatore and speeded up 10 express trains by 10- 255 minutes. According to the Railways, the 2202 Garib Rath from Kochuveli to Lokmanya Tilak would be on Sunday and Thursday and the 2201 from Lokmanya Tilak would be on Saturday and Tuesday. The train would have 12 AC 3-tier, 4 AC Chair Car, 2 Generator-cum-Guard van coaches. The train will stop at Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Thrissur, Shornur, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kankanadi, Udupi, Ankola, Madgaon, Sawantwadi Road, Ratnagiri, Bijoor and Panvel. The date of introduction of the train would be notified later. The 0364 Thiruvananthapuram-Kottayam Passenger has been extended to Nagercoil by introduction of a passenger train between Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram with effect from July 1. The increase in frequency of the 6603/6604 Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Maveli Express from tri-weekly to daily would be notified later. The 6315/6316 Kochuveli-Bangalore-Kochuveli Express had been made tri-weekly. The train would run from Kochuveli on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from Bangalore on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. As per this, the 6316 Kochuveli –Bangalore Express would run from Kochuveli from August 25 and 6315 Bangalore-Kochuveli Express from August 26. The 2695/2696 Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Express will be diverted via Coimbatore from July 1. The Railways have also speeded up 10 express trains from Sunday. The trains that have been speeded up are 6360 Patna–Ernakulam weekly Express (255 mts), 6323 Thiruvananthapuram-Howrah Bi-weekly Express (30 mts), 6324 Howrah-Thiruvananthapuram Bi-weekly Express (65 mts), 6310 Patna Junction-Ernakulam Bi-weekly Express (45mts), 2507 Ernakulam-Guwahati weekly Express (30 mts), 6322 Thiruvananthapuram-Bangalore Weekly Express (30 mts), 6127 Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express (25mts) , 6329 Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Malabar Express, 1097 Pune-Ernakulam weekly Express and 2978 Jaipur-Ernakulam Weekly Express ( all 10 mts).
