G.V.K. Rao is dead

BANGALORE: The former Chief Secretary G.V.K. Rao died here on Saturday.

He was 87. He had been ailing for some time. He was Chief Secretary from 1974 to 1977. He also served as member of the Planning Commission and Secretary (Agriculture), Government of India. He is survived by wife Savithri, a son and two daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. One of his sons predeceased him. The funeral will take place at Wilson Garden on Sunday, according to family sources.
