During the 18 months ending December last year, 15,889 Indian nationals were compulsorily repatriated to India and thereby the problem of unemployment should have been eased to some extent with nearly 16,000 “openings” created for the Ceylonese in the various sectors of employment, says Mr. H.E. Tennekoon, Controller of Immigration in his administration report for 1956.
