Letters to the Editor
This refers to the editorial ‘Gordon Brown at No.10’ (June 30). There are high expectations from him regarding the war in Iraq. Will he be more discerning about his country’s support to America’s cause than his predecessor? How soon Mr. Brown sits to review his country’s position vis-À-vis the war in Iraq will determine his future in an assured way and also earn him the gratitude of ordinary Iraqis.
Prasad Malladi,

Both Tory and Labour governments have always extended support to the White House whether occupied by a Republican or a Democrat. Every new British Prime Minister’s visits the U.S. soon after assumption of office. This being the situation, one cannot expect any radical shift in Britain’s attitude towards the U.S. just because there is a new tenant at 10 Downing Street.
I.S. Kanthimathinathan,
