Secularism result of good deeds of social activists: historian

KOZHIKODE: The Muslim Education Society (MES) founder P.K. Abdul Gafoor was one of tallest leaders of the Muslim community to take note of economic weakness of a large section of the community and make strenuous efforts towards their progress, historian M.G.S. Narayanan has said.

He was delivering the 23rd Dr. Gafoor Memorial Lecture organised by the Kozhikode district committee of the MES here on Sunday.

The contribution of MES in imparting education to the Muslim community was great.

Dr. Narayanan also distributed gold medals to Ishak Azhar and Joe James, toppers in the engineering and medical entrance examinations respectively.

The Dr. M.A. Abdulalla Award was presented to Hameed Fasal Gafoor, who secured top marks in the CBSE Plus Two examinations and those who secured A plus in all subjects in the SSLC examinations.
