Machpalli Hasan, 70, in protest against his sons’ attitude is preparing for his own funeral

Son stroke: Machpalli Hasan of Kondapur in Medak district who is keeping a ‘kafan’ ready in protest against his sons.

Kondapur (Medak dt.): Seventy-year-old Machpalli Hasan has four sons but he spent Rs 1,000 to buy a kafan, the abir and the ab-e-zam zam required for a proper burial after his death.

The old man who never left his native place created a ripple in the rather sleepy village of Kondapur by protesting against the attitude of his sons for whom the helpless man toiled throughout his life.

Hasan divided 10 acres of his land among his four sons and kept two for himself and his wife.

He also got his two daughters married long time ago. The old man who almost lost his eyesight ekes a living on the two acres. But his sons now want this two acres of land too.

Death threat

Hasan, who spends most of the time now at the local mosque cleaning and praying, showed a handwritten assurance to this reporter, in which his sons assured him that they would wait till his death to share the land. With the land values on the rise, his sons have threatened him that they would finish him if he failed to give possession of the two acres of land.

“I have some respect in this village. But now my sons have dragged me on to the streets,” Hasan said. After repeated threats from his greedy sons the heartbroken man has decided to prepare for his final journey.

Hasan said that he had purchased all the essential ingredients and kept them ready so that the villagers could take care of his funeral.

Hasan does not believe that his sons would offer him a decent burial.
