VISAKHAPATNAM: A book fair, being organised by the National Book Trust as part of its golden jubilee celebrations, opened at Visalandhra Book House here on Monday. Books, published by NBT, on subjects like science, industrial development, health and children’s books are on display at the expo. One can find literature from other languages and regions of the country at the fair. Noted writer Avasarala Ramakrishna Rao who inaugurated the fair, lauded the efforts of Visalandhra in hosting the fair. He hoped that Visalandhra would also come out with more publications. “Readers can know about the contemporary social issues in different regions of the country by reading the translations published by NBT. There are several books written for children by various authors which can now be read in Telugu or English,” manager of the book house P. Yogi said. He hoped that readers would make the fair a success by purchasing books of their choice. This would boost the efforts of NBT and inspire them to organise more such fairs in future. He lamented that while in the past people read books on a diverse range of subjects apart from their own area of interest, today their reading seems to have narrowed down to their subject of study. The expo will be on till July 21.
