Superkast CC posts win

Madurai: Karthikeyan’s five for 19 helped Superkast Cricket Club chalk out a three-wicket victory over Majestic Cubs Cricket Club in the MDCA first division ‘B’ zone league at Madurai on Sunday.

The scores: First division: ‘B’ zone: Majestic Cubs CC 119 in 22.1 overs (P. Karthikeyan five for 19) lost to Superkast CC 120 for seven in 22.4 overs; Supersonic CC 151 in 46.3 overs (Ramesh 46, Kannan 40, Balaji four for 16) lost to KKRC CC 152 for two in 22.1 overs (Karikalan 40, Syed 51 n.o.). Second division: Mercury Legends CC 90 in 29.1 overs lost to Babu Academy CC 91 for four in 19.1 overs; Thirunagar Rainbow CC 139 for six in 28 overs (Vijay Ka ndasamy 44) bt Fanatic CC 103 in 20.3 overs; Canara Bank RC 94 in 21.3 overs (Kumar four for 30) lost to Crescent CC 97 for four in 14.5 overs.

Saravanan shines

A spell of five for 37 by medium pacer Justin Saravanan helped Madurai defeat host Ramanathapuram by 70 runs in the four-team zone ‘E’ league of the TNCA inter-district under-19 cricket tournament at Seetha Kathi Sethupathy Stadium, Ramanathapuram on Monday.

The scores: Madurai 212 for nine in 50 overs (Varun 49, Vijay Anand 33, Ram Ganesh three for 47) bt Ramanathapuram 142 in 37.4 overs (Zyrose 35, Justin Saravanan five for 37, Varun three for 22); Dindigul 193 in 44.1 overs (Mohamad 36, Anand three for 33) lost to Namakkal 199 for eight in 35.5 overs (Prabakharan 73, Mani Bharathi 41). At Tirunelveli: Tirunelveli 214 in 46.5 overs (A. Rajadurai 79, A. Bala Subramanian five for 19) lost to Karur 215 for nine in 47.5 o vers (R. Saravanan 92, M. Veera Kumar 34, P. Meenakshisundaram four for 43, M. Pradeep three for 57); Erode 127 in 28.2 overs (Vaishak 30, Palanisamy four for 26) lost to Theni 131 for three in 18.2 overs (Ramprasad 54 n.o.).
