Dengue positive cases recorded in the district Complaint on unhygienic conditions in village
KADAPA: The Government has sanctioned Rs. 6.09 crore towards compensation for 34,800 farmers who incurred losses due to damage to groundnut crop in 32,490 hectares in kharif last, Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said on Monday. Farmers would be given a compensation of Rs. 1,875 per hectare within a week by Tahsildars and agricultural officials, he said in ‘Dial Your Collector’ programme here. Dengue positive cases were recorded in the district and hence medical, health and panchayat officials should take steps on a war-footing to prevent outbreak of epidemics, the Collector said. Health sub-centres should purchase bleaching powder costing between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 10,000, he told officials. Later, the Collector released a book ‘Pune Prayanam’ written by a teacher Vempalle Gangadhar, on the plight of girls forced into flesh trade.
