Auto collides with bus, 4 die

SRIVILLIPUTTUR: Four persons travelling in an autorickshaw were killed on Sunday when the vehicle collided head on with a State-run bus on the Watrap-Alagapuri road near here.

The deceased were identified as M. Mariappan (45) of Paraipatti of Madurai district, his wife Alagammal (38), their daughter Muthueswari (18) and auto driver K. Thangamayil of Alagapuri.

The family members was proceeding to Thambipatti.

While Mariappan succumbed to injuries at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, the other three died on the spot. The bus driver has been arrested. — Staff Reporter
