Court summons Kanchi Sankaracharya

CHENNAI: A sessions court here has summoned Kanchi Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and 10 others on July 23, for framing of charges in the Radhakrishnan assault case.

First Additional Sessions Judge Mohammed Nissath Ali gave the direction on Monday after dismissing petitions filed by Sundaresa Iyer and Raghu, seeking their discharge from the case. The Judge said a prima facie case had been made out against them.

Charges against all the accused would be framed on July 23. He asked all the 11 persons to be in court that day without fail.

The prosecution has arraigned Appu, Kathiravan, Ravi Subramaniam and five others as accused in the case.

Mr. Radhakrishnan was assaulted by a group of persons inside his house at Mandaveli here in 2002.
