Brett Lee back in squad

Sydney: Fast bowler Brett Lee, recovering from ankle surgery that forced him to miss the World Cup, was named in a 30-man Australian cricket squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in September in South Africa.

Team officials said Lee is progressing well in his rehabilitation and hopes to be at full fitness for the inaugural competition in South Africa from September 12 to 24.

Selectors chairman Andrew Hilditch said the squad will be reduced to 15 players in mid-July.

The squad: Ricky Ponting (captain), Adam Gilchrist (vice-captain), George Bailey, Nathan Bracken, Luke Butterworth, Stuart Clark, Michael Clarke, Dan Cullen, Brendan Drew, Brad Haddin, Shane Harwood, Matthew Hayden, Ben Hilfenhaus, Bra d Hodge, Brad Hogg, James Hopes, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Phil Jaques, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Andrew McDonald, Ashley Noffke, Marcus North, Luke Rochi, Andrew Symonds, Shaun Tait, Adam Voges, Shane Watson, Cameron White. — AP
