Treacherous city roads

Battered by the monsoon , the roads in the city have developed deep ruts and potholes. At several places, water has penetrated into the road base, loosening the upper layers.

Heavy vehicles swerve to avoid potholes, causing accidents. Unable to gauge the depth of the water- filled holes, two-wheeler riders have been thrown off.

Several vehicles had their tyres punctured in front of Padmanabha theatre at East Fort by stumps left after the dividers were cut off. At Bakery junction, the sides of the road are slippery with mud and has deep potholes. The Corporation has Rs.40 lakh for an emergency road repair unit but it is yet to become operational.
