SHIMLA: The prestigious 1500-MW Nathpa Jhakri power project has generated a record 2267 million units of electricity in the first quarter of April-June which is 42 million units more than the target set by the Union Ministry of Power, claimed a Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam spokesman here on Tuesday. The power station, which began commercial generation in October 2003, has so far produced about 18,525 million units of electricity which is being supplied to northern states like Delhi, Rajasthan, U.P., Punjab, Haryana, J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. During the last financial year 2006-07 the power station had generated a record 5941 million units of electricity, said the spokesman.
