Petition seeks copies of documents

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A criminal original petition, seeking a direction to the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Salem to give certified copies of 19 documents pertaining to a corruption case against a Minister and his kin, has been filed in the Madras High Court.

Justice K.N. Basha issued notices to Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam, and six of his family members, on the petition filed by J.M. Arumugham of Salem.

The Minister and his kin were cited as accused in a case under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act in 2004. In November 2006, the Chief Judicial Magistrate discharged them from the case.
