NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan set up three groups to study different aspects during the two-day Home Secretary-level talks on terrorism and drug trafficking that got under way here on Tuesday. The groups went into the issue of release of fishermen and their boats, consular access and visa-related matters, sources in the Ministry said. The issue of 55 persons wanted by India and residing in Pakistan against whom Interpol notices were pending was raised, they added. The Home Ministry said the talks were taking place in a cordial atmosphere and positive results were expected at the end of the discussions. Work is on early finalisation and signing of a memorandum of understanding between the drug control agencies of the countries. The 11-member Indian delegation includes Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau K.C. Verma and Special Director of Central Bureau of Investigation M.L. Sharma and Special Secretary (Home) M.L. Kumawat among others. Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta is leading the Indian side while Syed Kamal Shah, Interior Secretary is heading the Pakistan side. A formal statement is expected on Wednesday.
