The hospital needs 22 personnel for the new facility A few private doctors agree to work in the OPD
CHITRADURGA: The District Government Hospital has opened a separate outpatients department (OPD) for three hours between 5.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. five days a week. Recently, the Government issued an order to all district hospitals to function for three hours in the evening for five days a week for the benefit of workers. “We started the facility from July 2,” District Surgeon Kamareddy said. He told presspersons here on Tuesday that the hospital needed 22 staff, which included doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and x-ray technicians. He said that eight doctors of the district hospital had agreed to work extra hours and they would be paid Rs. 300 a day. The hospital management had spoken to a few private doctors who had agreed to work in the evening OPD, he said. Resident doctor Sharanappa said that since the other staff was already with the hospital, it did not need any outsiders. He said those other than doctors would be paid Rs. 100 a day. A separate heads of account had been created to make payments. He said that as per the Government Order an undertaking would be obtained from the private doctors to devote three hours to the hospital and they would be asked not to collect money from any patient.
