ALAPPUZHA: Minister for Revenue K.P. Rajendran said the State Government was mulling a proposal to arrange speedboats and other emergency rescue operation equipment for Kuttanad to tackle the heavy winds and rain that battered the region during the past week. The Minister paid a short visit to Veliyanadu village here on Tuesday. Mr. Rajendran said compensation would be provided within a week to those had lost their homes in the strong winds that swept Kuttanad on Sunday night. He directed Tahsildar A.M. Najeeb to arrange free rations to those who had been sheltered at the relief camps for the past two weeks. The Minister asked District Collector V.K. Balakrishnan to declare a two-day holiday for all the schools in the taluk. Mr. Rajendran, who visited the relief camp here, assured the people that power supply would be restored within two days.
