SFI opposes hike in buss pass fare
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: Activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) took out a protest demonstration against the increase in the bus pass fare near Mysore Bank Circle here on Tuesday.
They complained that the Government had increased the bus pass rates, some by three-fold, without any reason. College students would now have to Rs. 1,140, which was more than the college fees of about Rs. 550.
“When students find it difficult to pay the college fees, how you can expect them to pay the fare?” B. Rajashekara Murthy, SFI State unit president, sought to know. The students said the Government had not explained the rationale behind collecting Rs. 70 for processing charge, Rs. 10 for Information Technology fee and Re. 1 as rolling stock fee.
They wanted the State Government to withdraw the increased fare.
