NEW DELHI: The Sessions court hearing the Nitish Katara murder case has approached the Delhi High Court seeking more time to complete the proceedings. The High Court has posted the matter for July 26. Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur had approached the court of Justice B. N. Chaturvedi seeking more time as the May 31 deadline has already passed. On February 1, the High Court had directed the Sessions court to complete the proceedings within a stipulated time frame. The High Court had then also rejected the bail plea of prime accused Vikas Yadav, son of former Member of Parliament D. P. Yadav. The bail plea of the prime accused would come up before the court once again on July 26. Currently, recording of the defence evidence is in the initial stages. The recording of statements of prosecution witnesses took a lot of time with prime witness Bharti Yadav, sister of Vikas Yadav, eluding the court for nearly two years. The recording of the statement of her sister Bhawna was also adjourned several times primarily on medical grounds.
