Lok Satta to contest ZPTC, MPTC polls

HYDERABAD: The Lok Satta Party will be trying its electoral fortunes for the first time by contesting the forthcoming byelections in the State to four Zilla Parishad Terroritorial Constituencies and 15 MPTCs slated for July 12.

Announcing the party’s decision, D. V. S. S. Varma, secretary, said on Tuesday that the ZPTCs of Hiramandam (Srikakulam district), Ungutur (West Godavari), Pitchaaturu (Chittoor) and Midjil (Mahabubnagar) will be contested. The 15 MPTCs are spread across 11 districts.

He said for the first time in the country, Lok Satta was ushering in a political culture of choosing its candidates on the basis of public opinion expressed at open and secret primaries. The primaries were conducted at six places and the exercise would be completed in other places.
