Bail plea of Manapparai doctor-couple dismissed
Staff Reporter
TIRUCHI: Principal District and Sessions Judge K. Thangakani on Tuesday dismissed the bail petition of arrested Manapparai doctor-couple K. Murugesan and M. Gandhimathy.
The Manapparai police last week arrested the couple, whose 16-year-old son allegedly performed a Caesarean section in their hospital.
Opposing the grant of bail, Public Prosecutor R. Edwin Jeyakumar submitted before the Judge that the investigation was at a preliminary stage and the police had to gather evidence.
He said complaints against the doctors were streaming in from people in and around Manapparai. After hearing the arguments, the Judge in his order on Tuesday said that the Court was not inclined to grant bail at this stage.
