New infrastructure management course

Staff Reporter

The Visvesvaraya Technological University is offering

MBA degree

Bangalore: The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in association with the School of Management for Infrastructure and Development Strategies–India (MINDS) will now be offering a new course — an MBA degree in Infrastructure Management.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, B. Bhaskara Rao, president of the Centre for Symbiosis of Technology, Environment and Management, said: “With an investment estimated at Rs. 14.5 trillion over the next six years and a spate of new investor-friendly policies in the offing, infrastructure is set to become the most ‘happening’ sector.

“The immediate requirement of the Indian economy is a pool of holistically trained domain-ready infrastructure managers.”

Prof. Rao also said that VTU and MINDS launched the first-ever comprehensive post-graduate diploma in infrastructure management (PGDIM) programme in August 2005. “What is new is that candidates now have a dual qualification option from the 2007-08 academic year. Under this innovative programme, a student receives a PGDIM on completing the first year and an MBA degree in infrastructure management after the second year,” he added.

Prof. Rao said that the course is conducted at the School of MINDS in Bangalore. The admission process for the 60 seats has begun. “The course is open for post-graduates and engineering graduates. There is no written examination,” he said.

For more information, candidates may contact the School of MINDS, IHA Building, 20th Main, 80 ft Road, 6th Block, Koramangala, Bangalore 560095, or call Ph: 65312810, 25533615, or send an email to “ admissions@minds-india.org”.
