CHENNAI: The state-of-the-art facility of Italian sandwich panel makers MeTecno s.p.a., coming up at Sriperumbudur, will go on stream on Wednesday. The facility will produce sandwich panels made of steel and aluminium sheets with polyurethane foam as the core materials for factory buildings, cold storages and telecom shelters. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Anup Kumar Dave, Chief Operating Officer, MeTecno (India) Pvt Ltd., said the project involved an investment of $12 million. The equity component was worth $9 million. The balance was raised by way of a loan from State Bank of India. The Indian subsidiary had 55 per cent equity participation from MeTecno Group and 45 per cent from Simest, an Italian government funding agency. Mr. Dave said the facility would produce 1.8 million sq. m. sandwich panels annually. This would get translated into a production capacity of 6,000 sq. m. a day.
