‘In Science courses, we are expecting a third list because of the maximum withdrawals’ Gargi College is likely to bring a third cut-off list only in B. A. (Programme)
NEW DELHI: Seats in very few courses are expected to be available at Delhi University after admission process for the second cut-off list draws to a close on Wednesday. Principal
While admission to courses like Hindi (Honours) and Mathematics (Hons) were shut at Hans Raj College in the first cut-off list itself, B. Com (Hons), Economics (Hons), B. A. (Programme) will definitely close after the second list, informed Principal S. R. Arora. “In Science courses, we are expecting a third list because the maximum number of withdrawals is from there. However, in Science too, seats are full in both B. Sc. Mathematics and B. Sc. Computer Science courses,” said Dr. Arora, adding that so far 1,000 admissions have been made against 750 seats. Students
Gargi College is likely to bring a third cut-off list only in B. A. (Programme) and Political Science (Hons). “We think that there may be a third list in these courses, but then again one more day is still left and students generally come to take admission on the last day as they are busy withdrawing their originals from elsewhere,” said Principal Neera Ramachandran, whose college has made a total of 830 admissions so far with the number of withdrawals being 60. Withdrawals
At S.G.T.B. Khalsa College, there will be no third cut-off list for several courses such as B. Com (Hons), B. Com (Programme), Economics (Hons), Political Science (Hons) and History (Hons), while a couple of Science courses like Physics (Hons) and Electronics (Hons) too will be unavailable. However, a third cut-off list is almost certain in B. Sc. Life Science and B. Sc. Physical Science at the same college. Commenting on the number of withdrawals in his college, Principal Jaswinder Singh said: “So far there have been only two cases of withdrawals. Almost every year, the maximum number of students who opt out of the college are from the Science courses which will begin by July-end.” However, there is some ray of hope for students as there are some colleges that will bring out a third cut-off list. “Our college usually does not get full in the second cut-off list, so we will definitely have a third list in almost all the courses. In B. Com (Hons), so far only 50 per cent of the total number of seats have been full,” said Principal of Aditi Mahavidyalaya Kamal Anand. The situation is pretty much the same at Deshbandhu College and Mata Sundri College for Women. “In History (Hons) and Political Science (Hons), we have fewer seats left and we were hoping that admissions in these courses will close by today but that has not happened. We will be able to get a clearer picture on these two programmes by Wednesday only. However, we are certainly coming out with a third cut-off list in Hindi (Hons), Sanskrit (Hons), Philosphy (Hons) and Punjabi (Hons),” observed Mata Sundri College Principal Satnam Kaur. Declaration
With one more day to go for the admission to colleges after the declaration of the second cut-off list of Delhi University, several courses will no longer be available after Wednesday when the third cut-off list will be released.
