Two absconding life convicts caught

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The City Police on Tuesday caught life convict Arshad Bhakthiar who had escaped along with his associate Hussain, also serving a life sentence, from police custody when they were brought to hospital for check-up two months ago. Hussain is still at large.

Commissioner’s Task Force Inspector (West) B. Limba Reddy told reporters that Bhaktiar was picked up when the latter came to city to see his ailing father. After escaping from the Osmania General Hospital by pushing down escort constables on April 27 last, the two life convicts fled to Bangalore. Subsequently, they developed differences.

Accusing Hussain of ill treating him, Bhaktiar fled to Mumbai and worked there as security guard. On learning that his father fell sick, he came to city and was caught near Chandanagar.
