Two women die after entering tank

Two women, Mallamma and Savithri, both aged about 65 years, died on Tuesday after entering Hasmathpet tank in Alwal for washing clothes.

The victims used to live at Addagutta.

According to the Alwal police, Savithri got drowned while trying to rescue Mallamma who slipped into the deep waters.

Locals later managed to pull out Mallamma but she fell unconscious by then and died while being shifted to hospital.

Gold ornaments stolen

Thieves took away gold ornaments weighing 600 gm from a house at Nalgonda crossroads in Malakpet in the early hours of Tuesday. They sneaked into the house of Syed Hameeduddin through the main door that was not bolted properly.

Burglary bid flops

A Bihar-based gang of thieves tried in vain to break into a watch showroom in Kukatpally in the early hours of Tuesday but beat a hasty retreat as the security alarm gave a siren.
