Another soldier kills himself in Jammu

Jammu: In yet another case of suicide by Army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, a soldier shot himself with his service rifle.
Rifleman Vishnu Pratap Singh of Rajput Rifles killed himself at the Ratnuchuk Army Camp at 10 p.m. on Monday. A court of inquiry has been ordered and a case registered. The number of suicides in the Army has increased from 36 in 2001 to 98 in 2006.
New Delhi Special Correspondent reports:
Perturbed over unnatural death of an Army lady officer in Jammu on Sunday, Defence Minister A. K. Antony chaired a meeting on the issue on Tuesday and asked officials to request the Jammu & Kashmir police to expedite the probe into the case to “arrive at the truth.”
Mr. Antony asked the Army to also speedily conclude its probe into the death in which murder is still not ruled out.
