Rs. 50-lakh tourism complex to come up at Bhangur village

Sound and light show at Bidar fort soon

Bidar: The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 6 crore for development of tourism in Bidar.

An action plan will be prepared and sent to the Government within two weeks, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur said here on Wednesday.

According to him, the plan included development of pilgrimage centres of all faiths, providing basic amenities at historical monuments and other tourist spots, constructing a Bidar tourism complex on the Mumbai Hyderabad National Highway and providing publicity to all places of tourism potential in the district.

A tourism complex would come up on five acres of land in Bhangur village on the National Highway. Nearly Rs. 50 lakh will be spent on the complex which would have a Yatri Nivas, a hotel, a hall to exhibit posters and pictures about monuments in the district and a shopping complex where Bidriware and other handicrafts would be sold. Ethnic food unique to Bidar will be sold in the hotel, he said.

The Government planned to conduct the Bidar Utsav regularly, introduce a sound and light show in the fort and provide speaking wizard instruments to visitors to the Mohammad Gawan Madrassa. Guides would be trained and tourist taxis would be permitted to ply in the city, the Minister said.

The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation would organise package tours from Hyderabad to Bidar in Air Conditioned Volvo buses. All these efforts will be supplemented by national level publicity campaigns through road shows, printing of books and pamphlets and by using the Internet, he said.

The Union Government had also agreed to release Rs. 3 crore for tourism development in the district, Mr. Kashempur said. He assured that the post of a tourism development officer will be created in Bidar and a tourism development centre would be established soon.
