Land handed over to Port Trust

CHENNAI: The Tiruvottiyur Municipality on Monday handed over 11.26 acre belonging to it on Ennore Express Highway to Chennai Port Trust, which would establish a container parking station there.

The port trust has agreed to pay Rs.11 lakh monthly rent to the civic body.

The proposed facility is a move aimed at avoiding traffic congestion due to the parking of container lorries in the area.

The civic body and the port management had entered into an agreement for the purpose, said an official release.
