KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal on Wednesday presented its programmes and policies for the fiscal year 2007/08 before the interim Parliament with major focus on holding the Constituent Assembly elections on November 22. Addressing the budget session, which began two days ago, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said holding the poll in time was his Government’s top priority for this year. He asked the countrymen for their contribution in making the poll a success. In his indirect reference to the future of monarchy and the King, Mr. Koirala referred to Mahatma Gandhi’s comments during India’s independence movement where he famously said the British would eventually help the revolution with their feet. Presenting the Government’s programmes and polices in Parliament, senior Cabinet Minister Ram Chandra Poudel said the Government was committed towards national restructuring.
