SRINAGAR: A top Hizbul Mujahideen militant, wanted in over 20 militancy related cases over the last 10 years, including the killing of policemen, was shot dead in a gunbattle in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Elsewhere in the Valley, a major tragedy was averted with the timely detection of an Improvised Explosive Device on a busy road in Kulgam district.
The militant Shoukat Ahmad Dar alias Salim, who recently beheaded an abducted policeman, was killed in a joint operation by the police, Army, and the CRPF in Tral area of Pulwama district, Superintendent of Police, Awantipora, Sardar Khan told PTI.
