KOTTAYAM: The Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Jancy James has called for ensuring transparency in the functioning of the self- financing colleges. She was inaugurating the conference of principals of self- financing Arts and Science colleges affiliated to MG University. While self financing educational institutions have become a reality in Kerala, there still exists certain apprehensions about them in the public mind, she said. Internal marks
It was imperative on the part of these institutions to remove these misgivings, she added. No one could justify the failure of these institutions to inform the University about the details of the internal marks. More serious is the tendency to recommend revision of internal marks which are already given. She also criticised the tendency to approach the courts “right from securing admissions by circumventing the rules, to writing of examinations to declaration of results”. Time has come to take a critical look at this tendency, she said. Pro vice- chancellor K.K. Unuskutty presided over the function.
