Seven u-15 sailors for Singapore

Chennai: Seven under-15 optimist dinghy sailors, five boys and two girls, left for Singapore on Tuesday to participate in the IODA Asian optimist championship from July 7 to 15.

The sailors, TNSA’s Nishanth Chandrasekar, Hussian Bhavnagarvala, Gerad Ambrose, Swetha Sadanand, and Niveditha Varman, and CSE’s Gaurav Pikale and Arisudan Seth, had qualified for the event during the Chennai Port Trust-National optimist coastal sailing championship.

The sailors underwent a two-week coaching camp run by the Yachting Association of India and overseen by Ninad Mayekar, National class coach, National Optimist Association of India. — Special Correspondent
