To go on fast

BANGALORE: The Akhila Bharatiya Veerashaiva Mahasabha will start a relay hunger strike from Thursday to protest against the book “Anudeva Horaganavanu”, mahasabha president Bheemanna Khandre has said. Mr. Khandre told presspersons here on Wednesday that the Veerashaivas did not have any objection to the claim that Basaveshwara could have been a Maadiga, but on the pretext of tracing his origin, the author had indulged in character assassination. The mahasabha had planned to stage a rally in Bangalore on Thursday but after Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy promised the community that the Government would examine the issue and resolve the matter, the rally had been postponed to July 25. — Staff Reporter
