Assumes charge

GREETINGS: Chief Information Commissioner K.K. Misra (left) and H.N. Krishna in Bangalore on Wednesday.

BANGALORE: H.N. Krishna on Thursday assumed charge as the State Information Commissioner. Chief Information Commissioner K.K. Misra administered the oath of office to Dr. Krishna.

Dr. Krishna, who earlier served as the Chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), told presspersons that there was need to create more awareness about the Right to Information Act among the rural people.

More seminars and meetings would be organised in the coming days in the rural parts of the State for effective use of the Right to Information Act, 2005, he said. The State Government has constituted the Karnataka Information Commission under Section 15 (1) of the Act.
