Jalappa moves court against AG’s consent

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The former Minister R.L. Jalappa on Wednesday moved the Karnataka High Court against the consent given by Advocate-General (AG) to Mahesh Joshi, Senior Director of Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra, for filing a case of criminal contempt.

Mr. Joshi had sought the AG’s consent to file a criminal contempt case against Mr. Jalappa. In his letter to the AG, Mr. Joshi said that Mr. Jalappa had made defamatory remarks against him. When the matter came up on Wednesday, Mr. Jalappa questioned the consent and urged the court to stay it. Justice Ajit Gunjal adjourned the case to Monday and stayed the consent till then.
