Cells to protect Muslim properties

HYDERABAD: Special cells headed by deputy collectors will be set up in each of the three regions to protect Muslim properties in the State.

The cells will be located at Hyderabad, Kurnool and Vijayawada.

The deputy collectors will be vested with sub-judicial powers. The State Cabinet, which took this decision at a meeting here on Wednesday, also resolved to appoint wardens “through outsourcing” for the 12 pre-matric hostels set up for the minority students.

A proposal to establish an irrigation office at Vizag, headed by a chief engineer to examine various technical aspects and develop the ayacut in the North Coastal Andhra under the new irrigation projects was also made.
