“Patil wrongly quoted”

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday described as “distorted” media reports which quoted Home Minister Shivraj Patil as saying in Srinagar that Pakistan should not be blamed for “every wrong thing” happening in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Home Minister has been wrongly quoted in the reports. The highly distorted reports have created totally avoidable confusion and controversy,” it said in a press release.

Answering a question during his visit to the valley, Mr. Patil had said “we don’t always blame Pakistan for what is happening here.” The credit for the improved situation should be given to people of the State. — PTI
