New Delhi: With the involvement of two of its nationals suspected in the failed terror plot in the U.K., India on Wednesday said it would extend any assistance if asked for by investigators. India also cautioned against reaching any conclusion if any Indian was merely detained or questioned. The government said the Indian High Commission in Canberra was in touch with authorities in Australia where a doctor from Bangalore, Mohd Haneef, has been detained in connection with last week’s terror plots in London and Glasgow. Combating terrorism
“India is committed to full international cooperation when it comes to an act of (combating) terrorism. We will give any assistance if it is requested for (by Australia and Britain),” Minister of State for External Affairs, Anand Sharma, said. He said there had been no request for assistance from these countries so far. “I would like to add here that merely an interrogation or detention should not make us arrive at any conclusion,” he told NDTV. —PTI
